Vanuatu’s National Climate Change Adaptation Strategy – July 2011 (Second Draft)

Classified by the UNFPA as one of the most vulnerable nations to natural hazards along with Solomon Islands in the South Pacific, Vanuatu faces the challenge of eradicating widespread poverty in the face of climate change.

The National Climate Change Adaption Strategy lays out a framework to identify and implement activities for managing climate change impacts on land-based resource sectors of forestry, agriculture, water, livestock, and biodiversity. It builds on existing frameworks and policies such as the National Adaptation Programme of Action and the Disaster Management National Action Plan among others to formulate a comprehensive and effective framework of policies.
