United Nations Development Programme & Climate Change Adaptation - A Quarterly Update of Activities - Issue 4
The UN Development Programme (UNDP) has released the fourth issue of its Climate Change Adaptation Bulletin, a quarterly publication that provides an overview of the technical assistance to countries at the national, sub-national and community-level.
The Bulletin includes updates on a range of topics including the status of ongoing projects, new project approvals, performance indicators, project impacts and results. Under the UNDP Environmental Finance, a Global Trust Fund, UNDP is providing technical and programming assistance to countries to develop and finance low-emission and climate resilient development strategies. Support is being provided to local governments in Uruguay and new initiatives are starting up in Colombia, Uganda, Senegal, Peru, Ethiopia and Nigeria. In addition, as a Multilateral Implementing Entity (MIE) of the Kyoto Adaptation Fund, UNDP is assisting countries to develop country-driven programmes and projects based on national priorities to manage climate change impact across key sectors. National initiatives are nationally executed by line ministries, with support from UNDP Country Offices.
The Bulletin also announces the launch of the Toolkit for Designing Climate Change Adaptation Initiatives, a hands-on guide based on lessons emerged over the last four years from UNDP's support to countries with accessing finance for adaptation.
