SCALA leads private sector roundtable on climate action in Egypt's livestock and dairy sectors

FAO Egypt

Transformative change starts with multistakeholder engagement. A round-table discussion in Egypt organized by the SCALA programme brought together stakeholders from various positions in the Egyptian livestock and dairy sectors to examine the impacts of climate change and to highlight climate-friendly solutions. The meeting also provided agrifood companies with an opportunity to explore financing options to support climate adaptation in the livestock and dairy subsectors.

The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO)-led event considered the dual role of the livestock sector in being both affected by and contributing to climate change. By exchanging information about innovative practices such as manure management, forage production, and improved ventilation, stakeholders along the livestock value chain were introduced to dynamic solutions that reduce the environmental impacts of production while strengthening the resilience of their operations.
