Report: Proposed climate zones for Cambodia (RIMES / UNDP), 2020

Climate is not dictated to by man-made provincial and country borders – instead, there might be more accurate ways of zoning climate for forecasting and reporting.

A recent study by the Regional Integrated Multi-Hazard Early Warning System for Africa and Asia (RIMES), in partnership with the UNDP-supported project 'Strengthening Climate Information and Early Warning Systems to Support Climate-Resilient Development in Cambodia', has proposed a new agro-climate map for Cambodia, which breaks the country into seven zones based on factors such as rainfall, temperature, sea level pressure and wind. The new approach is hoped to reduce fallacies and inaccuracies in forecasting, leading to better hydro-meteorological predictions for the country.
