9:00-10:30Opportunities in Accelerating Adaptation FinanceUNDP PavilionAdaptation finance has increased significantly from US$22 billion in 2021 to $28 billion in 2022, however, the gap is still estimated at US$187-$359 billion per year in developing countries alone (UNEP 2024). During this side event, representatives of developing countries and financial institutions will exchange experiences and challenges, and explore opportunities in accelerating adaptation finance, focusing on various building blocks such as policy frameworks, financial instruments, capacities, tools and others.

Strengthening the collaboration between Ministries of Finance and Ministries of Environment to implement national adaptation plansPCCB  Capacity Building HubThe UNEP, the Coalition of Finance Ministers for Climate Action and the UNDP joined efforts to organize a session for Ministries of Environment and Ministries of Finance, focusing on practical ways for these ministries to enhance collaboration in the view of accelerating the implementation of National Adaptation Plans.
11:30-13:00PCCB Academy - Bridging Finance Gap of NAP with Climate and Disaster Risk FinancePCCB  Capacity Building HubThis session will showcase how Climate and Disaster Risk Finance & Insurance (CDRFI) methods can improve risk management and be integrated into National Adaptation Plans (NAPs) to establish a strong climate rationale. Divided into two table discussions—one on the Formulation Phase and the other on the Implementation Phase—participants will collaborate with facilitators to develop practical ideas, share examples, and leverage CDRFI tools to enhance the investability and cost-efficiency of NAPs while bridging the adaptation finance gap.

It features a panel discussion with representatives from governments, international organizations and civil society.

Four country representatives at various stages of their NAP process to share their adaptation MEL frameworks.

FAO and UNDP will officially launch and present the Climate Action Review (CAR) Tool, jointly developed by both agencies under the SCALA programme. The CAR Tool enables countries to identify and rank climate solutions in agrifood systems according to their transformative potential and supports the transition from planning to implementation.
