The CEO and Chairperson of the Global Environment Facility (GEF), Carlos Manuel Rodriguez, who was in Bhutan recently, met and interacted with the beneficiaries of the ACREWAS (Advancing Climate Resilience of the Water Sector in Bhutan) project in Lobesa, Punakha.
Sharing thoughts on his engagement with the communities of Toeb and Barp, who will benefit from the drinking water supply scheme being supported through the ACREWAS project, the GEF CEO described the community engagement as one of the key highlights of his visits to GEF-supported projects in Bhutan.
With $8.9 million from GEF Least Developed Countries Fund and an additional $25 million in government co-financing, the ACREWAS project is implemented by the Royal Government of Bhutan in partnership with UNDP.
